From 29 to 31 May, 163 Filipinos sat their professional board exams at HFSE International School in Singapore. No flight to Manila, no week of leave burned on travel, no rebooking roulette. The Professional Regulation Commission ran the exams in coordination with the Migrant Workers Office here.
The setup is called the Special Professional Licensure Examination, and if a Philippine professional license is the missing line on your CV, it deserves your attention.
What the SPLE is
The SPLE is the PRC's overseas sitting of its licensure exams, held in cities with large OFW populations, Singapore among them. You take the same board exam as examinees in Manila, with the same passing standards, in a venue an MRT ride away.
The professions covered vary by round; past sittings have included teachers, engineers, nurses, and other PRC-regulated professions, depending on demand and what the PRC schedules. Each announcement lists the boards on offer.
Why a PH license matters while you work in SG
A license unlocks doors on both sides of the sea. Back home it is the legal requirement to practise. Here, some employers credit it in promotions and salary reviews, and for professions like teaching and nursing it supports moves into roles that recognise Philippine credentials. For anyone planning an eventual return, going home licensed beats going home and then spending a year on review and exams.
How to register
Registration runs through the PRC's online system, the LERIS portal at prc.gov.ph, where you create an account, pick the SPLE venue, and pay the fees. Requirements vary by profession, transcript and document rules included, so read the specific board's checklist on the PRC site.
The schedule for each round is announced by the PRC and amplified by MWO Singapore and the Philippine Embassy. Follow both pages; application windows are strict and close earlier than you expect.
Results and what follows
The PRC posts results on its website and official channels, with timing that varies by exam. Passers complete their registration and oath-taking, which the PRC has also brought to overseas posts in past cycles.
Make the attempt count
Reviewing for a board exam on top of a Singapore work schedule is its own discipline. The examinees who pass tend to treat it like training for a race: a fixed nightly slot, weekends for full mock exams, leave filed for the exam dates well in advance. File that leave the day you register, not the week before.
