Your Philippine passport is the document everything else depends on, your Employment Pass renewal, your S Pass, your Work Permit, your re-entry permit, your child's Dependant Pass, your IPA collection, your bank account in Singapore. When it expires, your Singapore life pauses with it. Here is the full play-by-play for renewing from Singapore in 2026, with the steps in the order they actually need to happen.
Step 1: Check whether you can still renew
You can renew if your passport has at least one full blank page and is not damaged, mutilated, or already expired by more than two years. If your passport is lost, stolen, or expired by more than two years, you do not file for renewal — you file for a new passport, which requires NBI clearance, an affidavit of loss notarised at the embassy, and a longer waiting period. Bring this up at appointment time so you do not arrive on the wrong queue.
Step 2: Book your appointment online
The Philippine Embassy in Singapore takes appointments only. Walk-ins are not entertained for passport services. Go to SingaporePC.dfa.gov.ph, create an account if you do not have one, pick a slot, and pay the SG$54 processing fee (subject to FX adjustment) by credit or debit card. You will receive an email confirmation with a QR code. Print it or save it offline; the embassy lobby has weak signal.
Appointment slots fill up. May to August (school break in PH, peak holiday travel) and December are the hardest months to book. Tuesday and Thursday morning slots are usually first to go. Set a calendar reminder to check the system at 9 am SG time on the first Monday of each month, which is when fresh slots typically open.
Step 3: Prepare the documents
The embassy publishes a short list, but in practice you should bring the long list to avoid a second trip. Bring:
Your current Philippine passport (the data page plus every page that has a stamp)
A clear photocopy of the data page
One copy of the printed appointment confirmation
A valid Singapore ID showing your local address (EP/S Pass/Work Permit card, or your dependant pass)
A recent utility bill or tenancy agreement if your card does not match your current address
For married women using a married surname: your PSA-issued marriage certificate
For children: PSA-issued birth certificate, plus both parents' valid IDs
Photos are taken on-site for free, so do not bring outside photos.
Step 4: Fees and processing windows
Fees as of May 2026: SG$54 for a 10-year e-passport (adults), SG$54 for a 5-year passport (minors under 18). Add SG$26 for express courier delivery to your Singapore address; otherwise plan to pick up in person.
Processing time has tightened in 2026 after the Embassy added a second printing line. Routine renewals printed in Manila and shipped back are now landing in 6 to 8 weeks for most applicants. The DFA Courtesy Lane (medical, urgent travel) is 10 to 15 working days with proof of need. Plan around your Singapore work pass renewal window: MOM will not renew an EP attached to a passport that expires within 6 months.
Step 5: Outreach events around the island
When the Embassy schedule is tight, they run consular outreach at Filipino-heavy locations: Lucky Plaza weekends, MWO offices, sometimes Tampines and Jurong community spaces. These take same-day applications without the online appointment, with a hard daily cap (usually 200 to 300 slots). Check SingaporePC.dfa.gov.ph under the News tab two weeks ahead, or the Embassy Facebook page for last-minute confirmations.
Common things that get applicants turned away
Damaged passport (frayed cover, water stains, peeling laminate) — treated as a lost-passport case
Missing photocopy of the data page — printer is at the lobby but the queue is long
Wearing white on the photo day — backdrop is white, you will blend
Forgetting that the appointment is for you and you alone — accompanying spouses and kids without their own slots will not be entertained
What changes for OFWs specifically
OWWA-registered OFWs may get priority lane access on outreach days. Bring your latest OWWA OFW e-card. PhilHealth members who hospitalise in Singapore and need a valid passport for insurance verification can request a Courtesy Lane appointment with hospital documentation.
Fees and processing times move. Confirm via the official sources above within the week of your appointment. For passport-tied questions about Singapore work passes, see our Employment Pass 2027 guide and the Embassy's 2026 OFW Digital Handbook.
