Lost Your Work Permit Card in Singapore? The Free MOM App Every Filipino Should Set Up First
Your Work Permit lives on your phone the moment you set up SGWorkPass. Do it before you lose the physical card and start the one-week replacement scramble.
You reach for your Work Permit card at the checkpoint, at the bank, at the clinic, and one day it is not in your wallet. Now your employer has one week to apply for a replacement, and you are stuck explaining a card you cannot show. Most kabayan carry the plastic and never learn that the same pass sits inside a free app, ready the moment you set it up.
That app is SGWorkPass, run by the Ministry of Manpower. It shows your Work Permit or S Pass on your phone, and it takes ten minutes to activate. Do it tonight, not the day you lose the card.
What SGWorkPass shows
Open the app and your digital work pass appears with your pass type, your status, your date of issue, and your expiry. You see the same details printed on the plastic, without scanning the QR code on the back. MOM also pushes notifications through the app, so a change to your pass or a renewal reminder reaches you first.
The digital pass is free. It goes live right after you register. And it counts: employers, agencies, and officers can verify a pass straight from the app, so you can show your status even when the card sits at home.
Set it up in ten minutes
Download SGWorkPass from the Google Play Store or the App Store. Search the exact name, since copycat apps exist. Open it, choose the option for pass holders, and log in with Singpass. If you hold a Work Permit or S Pass, you already have a Singpass account, so set up its app too while you are at it.
Once you are in, your digital work pass loads on the home screen. Take a moment to read the expiry date. The live app is your proof, so trust it over a screenshot.
If the app cannot find your pass, the usual reason is a record that is not active yet. A brand-new hire sees the pass only after MOM issues it and the biometric step is done.

The biometric step behind your card
Before MOM prints your physical card, you give your face photo, fingerprints, and signature in person. This happens at the MOM Services Centre on Bendemeer Road, free, inside the 14-day window after your In-Principle Approval. Employers forget this one until the agency calls, so mark it early.
For most renewals, MOM carries your existing biometrics over, and you skip the trip. Sometimes MOM asks for a refresh. If that message arrives, book the slot at Bendemeer Road and bring the worker in person. Nobody else can give those prints.
When the card goes missing
Report it and move fast. If your Work Permit or S Pass card is lost, damaged, or stolen, your employer must apply for a replacement within one week through MOM. A police report helps if someone took it. While you wait for the new plastic, the digital pass in SGWorkPass keeps showing your valid status, which is the whole reason to set it up before trouble finds you.
Keep the physical card safe even so. The digital pass lowers your risk of losing it, and Singapore still issues and expects the card. Think of the app as the backup that rides in your pocket.
Do this today
Download SGWorkPass, log in with Singpass, and confirm your pass and expiry show. Tell your flatmates and your kasambahay friends to do the same. The ten minutes you spend tonight is the ten minutes you will thank yourself for on the morning a card goes missing and you can still prove, on your phone, that your papers are in order.
