Voice talent Inka Magnaye says her mother lost a voice-over job to AI.
Her mom, voice talent Lindy Pellicer, broke the news in the family chat on 8 October 2026: "I just lost a voice over job to AI." Magnaye posted a screenshot on her Facebook page the same day, INQUIRER.net reported.
The client is a big brand, Magnaye wrote. She did not name it.
"A vote you cast"
Magnaye said she understood that companies make business decisions in their own interest. She still asked brands to think about where their money goes.
She cited a quote that stayed with her: "Where you spend your money is a vote you cast toward the future you want."
"Sure, you save money," she wrote. The people brands would have paid, she added, spend that money back on them. "We are your customers, too."
"AI is not alive"
Magnaye called AI a tool that should never replace human talent.
"AI VOs sound lifeless. AI art feels lifeless. AI music sounds lifeless," she wrote. "Because AI is not alive."

She ended with a pitch: brands looking for a voice-over artist can call her mom, whose "schedule just freed up."
"The day I dreaded most"
Pellicer said she had done voice work for that client for many years.
"It's a sad and frustrating day for me," she wrote, calling it the day she dreaded most. She added that she would trust God to bring her gigs, calling Him her "full-time booking agent."
Her son Renzo told her in the chat that it might be "a budget thing."
